What is a forehead lift?
A forehead lift, also known as a browlift, is a surgical procedure designed to restore a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes by removing excess tissues, tightening forehead skin and altering the underlying muscles.
Are there any limitations to what a forehead lift can achieve?
A forehead lift only treat the upper one-third of the face and cannot improve the lower two-thirds of the face and neck which are better treated with a facelift.
Who are good candidates for a forehead lift?
Good candidates for a forehead lift are physically healthy men and women who are realistic in their expectations and looking to improve the appearance of the area above the eyes. Though forehead lifts are most often performed on patients ranging in age from forty to sixty, they can be performed at any age.

Where does the forehead lift procedure take place?
Most f orehead lifts take place in a surgeon's office-based facility or in an outpatients surgical center, though they can also take place in a hospital.
What type of anesthesia is used for a forehead lift?
Local anesthesia combined with sedation is most often used for forehead lifts, though general anesthesia may also be used.
Where are the incisions made for a forehead lift?
For a conventional forehead lift, the incisions are generally placed behind the hairline. Endoscopic procedures, however, typically involve several small, well-hidden incisions made within the hairline.
Are there scars after a forehead lift?
The incision will result in scars though they tend to be minimal and well-concealed.
What is the recovery like after a forehead lift?
Recovery tends to be easier and quicker for patients undergoing an endoscopic forehead lift. For either technique, some numbness, temporary discomfort and mild swelling can occur. Any pain or discomfort can be controlled with pain medication. Itching can also occur, though this tends to happen less with the endoscopic procedure. Patients should plan to take it easy for at least the first week after a forehead lift. If bandages are used, they will be removed within a day or two after surgery. Most visible swelling and bruising fades within about three weeks, and special camouflage makeup can be worn to help conceal any discoloration.
How much time will I need to take off from work after a forehead lift?
Most patients find that they can return to work within seven to ten days, sometimes less for those undergoing an endoscopic forehead lift.
When can I run or lift weights after my forehead lift?
More strenuous activities like running and weight lifting should be avoided or limited for several weeks. In addition, prolonged heat and sun exposure should be avoided for several months.
When are the stitches removed after a forehead lift?
Stitches are typically removed within one to two weeks.
